TTA Takeover – Eva Ferrell

1) We are surrounded by lies led by the one who seeks to destroy us.

You hear them every day, but you might not always recognize them. They are subtle, yet forceful; offer promises of safety, yet always lead to destruction; declare a life of freedom, yet lead to a life of chain-binding slavery. They are whispered in songs, suggested in movies, and engrained in society in the manners through which we think, dress, and act. They prey upon our doubts, fears, and insecurities. With such dangerous threats hanging over our heads, why are they not exposed and confronted? Moreover, who is behind all of this?

2) Jesus is the Truth that sets us free.

These are the lies that influence and drag us down every day. But the worst and perhaps most perilous is this: You have sinned too much and can no longer be forgiven.

I know all of these lies because I have believed and lived by them myself. However, I want you to know when a lie is present, it exists to cover up a truth. I am here to tell what that truth is: There is a God who sees you, hears you, and passionately desires you.

In John 8:32 it says, “you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” Jesus Himself is that Truth that combats these lies and sets people free (John 14:6). When you have a personal relationship with Jesus, He offers freedom from sin and all of its expectations. This means you no longer have to live under the overwhelming pressures that attack you because Christ has overcome them. Jesus further emphasizes this in John 8:36 when He says, “if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” He calls you to Himself because He loves you and wants what is best for you as stated in Romans 8:28.

3) As believers, we are called to live in the Truth.

As a believer in Christ, God has created you to thrive, not to hide (Joshua 1:9). Are you anxious? He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). Are you lonely? He will never leave you (Deuteronomy 31:8). Are you burdened? He bears your burdens daily (Psalm 68:19). If you do not know Jesus as your Lord and Savior, I am here to encourage you by sharing that there is no one too broken that He cannot fix (2 Corinthians 5:17). He offers salvation for all.

Matthew 11:28-30 says, “Come to me all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

We were made for so much more than what the world or the Devil offers. Put your hope in Christ and He will never let you down!
